Aragon was created out of the need to solve some of the world's largest issues. Corruption, climate change, terrorism - threats the world must solve together. All of these issues are, at the root, coordination problems. DAOs are one way to coordinate to solve these massive problems.
As we have seen with many large DAOs, organizations can sometimes grow beyond the needs they had when they were first created. Changing permissions, adapting governance, and evolving membership are examples of things DAOs struggle to do after deployment.
To solve this we built Aragon OSx, a modular and adaptable DAO framework with plugins for customizability.
On OSx, DAOs can easily install and uninstall plugins to change the logic of their organization, enabling adaptable organizations on an immutable blockchain. This means that DAOs can change things like their governance structure later when their needs change.
To use a practical example we have partnered with the main organizer of Billion Reasons to Build - Push Protocol. The prize is structured to meet Push’s current governance needs and hopefully become the initial design of Push DAO on AragonOSx. The flexibility of Aragon’s protocol will of course allow Push DAO to evolve as its needs and objectives change.
We would like to see a plugin that can give a Main DAO the permission to establish one or several subDAOs, and control the members of those subDAOs through the Main DAO proposal process. The subDAOs should otherwise be autonomous - i.e. should be able to spend their respective treasuries and interact with arbitrary contracts onchain.
In addition, to meet the full extent of PUSH’s governance needs, these DAOs should integrate with Charmverse, a tool that enables DAOs to efficiently visualize and manage permissions for each address within their organization. Charmverse is PUSH’s preferred tool for providing transparency on the actions that each address has permission to perform.
